Got onto Folkestone Harbour Wall at about 01:00 last night to find no wind at all to worry about, was set up about 1:30 first rod out with a 2 hook flapper with mackie squid tipped on top hook and rag and squid tipped on the bottom hook, was just setting up the other rod when I saw the other one knock so waited then the knock and pull down struck into it and knew it had to be a doggie, yes but was a double header not too big but good start. So baited up and re-cast. Put peeler on the pennel rig on the other rod and got it out.nothing else till about 3 o`clock when the rod with the pennel rig just bent double jumped off my seat knocking over my coffee and losing my ciggies over the harbour wall struck into a top scrap lasting a good 10-15 minutes. Do you know how hard it is trying to get a 4-and a half pound smoothound up a 40 foot wall, after hand lining it up the wall I finally got my first smoothound (yip, yip), glad there was another guy fishing as he had a drop net so we got the smoothie back safe and sound ( would like to say a big thank you to jamie for his help and his donation, top man ). The rest of the night was doggies and whiteing. Packed up at 5 o`clock had some breckie and on the road to hythe for 8o`clock start, was a misty morning but no wind but a bit nippy, first cast was , you got it a doggie the another and another then gone no more to be seen had a couple of whiteing and to my surprise a couple of schoolie bass. Packed up at 3:30 as the rain came and I was in need of sleep, bought myself a camara on the way back from Hythe so can upload pics now. Anyway day off tomorrow before Dungeness on wednesday .
